Optimism grants give $2m to onchain gaming projects

5 onchain projects received grants from Optimism
Optimism distributed over $100m in grants in their RetroPGF round 3, 5 onchain gaming projects got supported aswell:
Lattice received $680k. Lattice is building autonomous worlds and is part of 0xPARC. They currently have one live game in Skystrife, a RTS strategy running on their own L2, Redstone.
AW House / Komorebi received $270k. They’re hosting regular hacker houses to offer onchain devs a place to network and co-work on their ideas. The next one will be in Denver from Feb28-Mar4.
The media site focused on onchain gaming WASD received $260k.
Small Brain Games received a $400k grant. Small Brains are well known for Words3, Network States and Draw Tech. Speaking of Words3, there will be the first ever community round tomorrow Jan18 which will only last 5 minutes.
Lastly, Ronan Sandford received a $350k grant. Ronan is a onchain games dev and has co-authored ERC-1155.
Since inception, there have been 18k bridges to Redstone
Redstone, the chain built by Lattice, is running several onchain games right now, including Sky Strife. Players pushed over 225k txns playing the game already.
Other games running on Redstone include Aether Sands, Gaul and Dark Forest community rounds.
To talk about all the games building on Redstone or their engine MUD, they will host their first Demo call of the year on Feb18.
game of the week: Tarochi
Tarochi crossed 4500 unique users this week and is averaging 50-100 DAU. Their Season1 will soon launch on the new Arbitrum L3 XAI. Tarochi is a Pokemon inspired onchain RPG built by Paima Studios.
They will also have mobile support for Season1.

AW Denver will be a whole day dedicated to workshops, talks and playtesting before ETH Denver starts. It’ll be on Feb27.
They created a suspicious proposal with an encrypted request to transfer 477 WETH out of the Treasury. Luckily the DAO members recognized it and were able to prevent it.
Participants of the playtest will receive a reward once the game launches in Feb. It will be the first playtest using their Tiltyard platform and they're looking for more onchain PvP games to integrate.
2 new versions of Loot Survivor got released
Crypts and Caverns released their own edition with a competition to win C&C NFTs.
Await_0x built his own client for Loot Survivor which changes the way you play the game by revealing parts of your characters future.
Triviatech is an onchain multiplayer quiz game.

3 days into Season 0.1 of Sky Strife, players minted 227 Season Passes, played 200 matches and 300 new players joined the game so far.

Composable Hub is hosting a tournament on Jan26 with a $100 prizepool.
WASD, ggQuest & World Explorers are cooperating to launch Season2 of the World Sky League with a $1500 prize pool, starting Jan18.
