Starknet is allocating $120m to gaming
...and all the important news around autonomous worlds & onchain gaming
Starknet just announced their gaming committee. Compromised of 6 experts, it’s dedicated to fund gaming related projects on Starknet with a budget of 50m STRK ($120m at current prices). Most notably this budget is 25% higher than the DeFi program.
The first step will be evaluating what Starknet is lacking on the gaming front, then developing a growth strategy and incentive programs and lastly support fitting projects.
Of course not all 50m STRK will be going to FOCG projects, but since Starknet is already a frontrunner there and with Loaf and Tarrence on the committee, it’s safe to say a substantial amount will go towards onchain games.

The Proof of Play team is continuing to push forward with several major updates each week. It seems likely that the game will get out of early access soon and that the team is planning some kind of drop in tandem with it. Nodes, a token, more NFTs, no one knows yet.
What we know is their efforts to make onchain gaming as frictionless as possible. They just made their inhouse marketplace gasless and their own Apex Chain has done over 2m txns in 2 weeks with no costs for players.
If you’re not familiar yet with Proof of Play and Pirate Nation, they’re a stellar team and I recently posted a compilation of threads on the game, studio and their progress.
If anybody is attending GDC, they’re co-hosting an onchain gaming event there with Cartridge and Playmint on Mar 19.
